Unicist Business Platforms

Transforming Cost Centers into Business Units

Unicist Business Platforms are virtual business units that allow integrating work processes and business objects to generate predefined results. They are a materialization of the object driven organization and have been designed as adaptive systems in order to accelerate the growth of businesses. They allow the optimization of the integration of hardware , software and peopleware.

A Unicist Business Platform (UBP), as a “Virtual Business Unit” designed to produce results, is part of a real business unit but its results are measured independently. It is based on the Object Driven Organization methodology following the Client Centered Management meta-model.

All UBPs Include:
  1. IT Platform with the business objects
  2. Object Driven Organization
  3. Business Process Modeling
  4. Performance Management
  5. Quality Assurance
  6. Continuous Improvement
Implementation Process
  • Diagnosis
  • Definition of the business objectives to be achieved
  • Installation of the prototypers
  • Definition of the workflows
  • Use of the prototypers
  • Revision of the workflows
  • Development of the prototype
  • Monitoring of the processes
  • Final Platform
  • Outsourcing possibilities
UBPs are knowledge businesses

These business units are knowledge businesses whatever the type of business they belong to. This implies that the group that operates a UPB needs to have members with the know-how for the operation and a member who has the foundations of the processes.

Customers
UBPs might have two different types of customers:
  • External clients for the products or services they deliver to a market
  • Internal clients for products and services delivered internally
Profits

UBPs generate profits that are considered non-operational income by the company they belong to. These benefits have to be consolidated following the legal restriction of the country and the company.

Investments

UBPs require an investment in Hardware, Software and Business Objects. This investment has to generate an adequate ROI considering the UBP as a business unit.

Management

UBPs have a manager who is responsible for generating the defined added value and for obtaining the corresponding benefit. The manager cannot be the same person in charge of the business unit in which the UBP is integrated.

Prices

UBPs are productive units that include the necessary processes and objects to deliver added value to their clients. Their deliveries have a price that has to be competitive considering other alternative providers.

Plan B and Plan C

UBP need to have a quality assurance system that includes a plan B and a plan C to ensure the added value and the results.
